Social Satisfaction Studio

Our projects explore individual, social, and ecological imaginaries, often at points of crisis or transformation. We have operated as a collective since 1997—engaging many subjects and collaborators—and have produced works across multiple disciplines and media.
Our films use hybrid forms of documentary and social practice as essential elements throughout the entire creative process. We have exhibited our work widely, including; the Sigmund Freud Museum (Vienna), de Young Museum of Fine Arts (SF), Rotterdam Film Festival, the New Museum of Contemporary Art, San Francisco Documentary Film Festival, SF Camerawork. Our independent projects have been generously supported by Paul Robeson Fund for Independent Media, de Young Museum SF, Headlands Center for the Arts, LEF Foundation, Fleishhaker Foundation, Center for the International Exchange of Scholars (Fulbright Commission), Museumsquartier/Quartier21, University of California at Berkeley, and The Center for Cultural Innovation.
